Samsung's New Monitor Saves You From Plugging In Your Crappy Webcam

Tired of setting up your desk before every video meeting? Samsung’s new Webcam Monitor S4 features an integrated pop-up webcam with Windows Hello support, plus a ton of extra features to help you tidy up your desk. It’s on sale now for $320.

The 24-inch, 1080p monitor’s pop-up webcam actually uses a spring-loaded design. That means it won’t open on its own; you need to manually press the webcam to use or disable it. Of course, there’s a big benefit to leaving the webcam open all the time—it supports Windows Hello facial recognition to help you quickly log into Windows, websites, and apps.

An integrated microphone and stereo 2W speakers let you communicate without any extra hardware during video calls, and interestingly enough, the Webcam Monitor S4 features a pair of USB ports to help you de-clutter all the crap from your desk. These USB ports are especially useful if you use a laptop with the monitor, as you’ll have fewer dongles and wires to plug into your laptop when it’s time to work at a desk.

Like other Samsung monitors, the Webcam Monitor S4 is height adjustable, can tilt from side to side, and can rotate into portrait mode. It’s also VESA compatible, although the built-in stand is surprisingly attractive given the low price of this display.

The Webcam Monitor S4 is now available for $320 in the United States. Samsung says that the monitor will eventually launch in South Korea, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
